The Blueprint 3 Album

Jay-Z: The Blueprint 3

The Blueprint 3 is rapper Jay-Z's soon-to-be-released 11th album. Sean Carter, also known as Jay-Z, is set to release his Blueprint 3 album on September 11th, 2009 - 8 years to the day after releasing his first Blueprint album on the same (obviously unplanned) day as the tragic 9/11 attacks. In May 2009 Jay-Z announced that he had bought back the rights and completed songs for his Blueprint 3 album from Def Jam Recordings, the record label he was signed to and formerly ran as CEO, to release on whichever label of his choice. By buying out his album from Def Jam Jay-Z also fulfilled his contract with Def Jam. Jay-Z is currently in a $100m+ agreement with Live Nation to launch his "Roc Nation" label under the company, which many now say The Blueprint 3 is going to be released under.

Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 is one of the most anticipated albums of 2009 with production largely coming from superstar rapper and producer Kanye West. The latest street single, D.O.A. (Death of Autotune), caused a major buzz on the internet and even took over the Twitter social network as one of the most trending (talked about) topics through the site.

Blueprint 3 has been a work-in-the-making for almost 10 months. The first official announcement of the album came in August 2008 when Kanye West and Jay-Z first performed Jay-Z's "Jockin' Jay-Z" single together. Jockin Jay-Z leaked shortly after and features a RUN-DMC sample of "Dumb Girl".

Since August 2008 other songs rumored to be on The Blueprint 3 have also leaked, including: Brooklyn Go Hard featuring Santigold, History, When The Money Goes, BK Anthem and DOA (Death of Autotune). Swagga Like Us, which was featured on T.I.'s 2008 Paper Trail album, was also said to be included on The Blueprint 3 album as well, which includes Kanye West, Lil Wayne, TI and Jay-Z. A Swagga Like Us Part 2 featuring Andre 3000 of Outkast fame, was also rumored to be included on the Blueprint 3.

It's rumored that Jay-Z's next official single off The Blueprint 3, coming summer 2009, will featuring the much hyped rapper Drake.
